IT Project Manager (Temporary)

Location: Lower Mainland, BC

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an IT Project Manager to manage and coordinate projects in our rapidly maturing Information Security & Technology’s Project Management Office. This position is a 1-year temporary contract and may have the option to convert to full time. This role is located in the Lower Mainland of BC and is primarily work from home, though there will be occasional planning sessions in the office requiring your presence. There is also an option for you to work in the office full or part time regularly if you wish.

Key responsibilities:

  • Execute all aspects of regular project management as indicated in the PMBOK versions 6 and 7
  • Manage and coordinate Information Technology projects for Information Security & Technology, Finance, and other business units as required
  • Lead the coordination and management of projects including:
    • Application deployments
    • IT infrastructure construction, enhancement, and maintenance
    • Business and technology capability creation and maturation
    • IT systems engineering projects,
    • Business unit projects
    • Ad hoc various projects as needed
  • Perform business analysis to help create business solutions
  • Assist in the operation of the PMO, such as resource management, project brief creation, and process development
  • Tailor methodologies on the ground to support rapid business delivery
  • Assist in the advancement of methodologies and frameworks
  • Ensure successful delivery of project outcomes
  • Other PM duties as needed

Your background:

  • You are able to manage business and IT technology projects
  • You have a PMP credential
  • You have a minimum of 5 years-experience managing IT projects
  • You know how IT organizations and service management function
  • You understand and can apply the varying types of prescriptive, adaptive, and hybrid delivery methods
  • You are comfortable in an environment where methodologies and frameworks are maturing
  • You can manage multiple projects at once and can intelligently tailor methodologies as required
  • You are familiar with Lean approaches to project management and PM governance
  • You can conduct basic business analysis, such as eliciting requirements and helping to construct business solutions
  • You are familiar with PRINCE2 (nice to have)
  • You have previous experience in a maturing PMO (nice to have)
  • You are well organized, have a keen attention to detail, good at communicating, and are strong with stakeholder management
  • You enjoy contributing to a happy high-functioning team, bringing attributes such as teamwork, empathy, respect & courtesy

Salary:

This is a temporary 1-year contract. The typical hiring range for this position is from $107,000 to $126,000 annually. The salary offered is based on market location and may vary depending on skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our compensation package temporary employees in this position are eligible for: 15 paid vacation days per annum, 10 sick days per calendar year, Office Flex, Health Flex, and ‘Copperleaf Days’. Temporary employees are not eligible for our company bonus program, equity offerings, health benefits, or our RRSP program.
