About the Role

As a member of the Compliance team the Specialist, Compliance is a key contributor to maintaining and enabling DistillerSR’s audit readiness. This role is critical to supporting the various functions of the Compliance team. This includes helping to develop, maintain, and ensure audit readiness for SOC 2 Type II reporting amongst other regulatory frameworks.

The Specialist will also support scaling-up our Compliance, Risk Assessment, and Assurance programs as we grow, while maintaining the high standards necessary to supply software to a highly-regulated industry. The role will facilitate significant cross-functional collaboration and is well-positioned for visibility throughout the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple project timelines, to ensure coordination and completion of milestone tasks
  • Coordinate cross-functional team members with tact and diplomacy to support compliance processes and control performance
  • Perform document management tasks to create/modify/retire policies and procedures
  • Support Incident documentation process, including management of Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA) and effectiveness checks
  • Perform risk assessments, audit testings, and effectiveness checks relevant to our regulatory frameworks
  • Risk assess and prioritize multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Support the team’s coordination and response to audits and other external requests

Required Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma preferably with a specialization /concentration in Business Administration, Technology or a related field
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a risk, compliance, or assurance role
  • Customer-first approach and a team player that can influence in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (presentation, verbal, written)
  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of accountability
  • Organizational skills - ability to collaborate with team members in an agile manner
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and a risk-based approach to assess and prioritize issues
  • Ability to multi-task and perform duties in a fast-paced environment
  • Discretion and independent judgment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, GRC tools, and productivity suites the growth mindset and ability to learn new software and skills as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing, maintaining, and testing internal controls in a regulated environment
  • Experience with organizations providing SaaS solutions to private and public sector organizations, or understanding of key concepts behind hosting a Cloud based SaaS solution
  • Experience with compliance and reporting of control / risk frameworks for SOC 2, NIST AI, and/or GDPR.
  • Experience in a regulated industry - specifically with GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and understanding of the foundations of a QMS (procedures, training, change management, incident management and CAPA management)
  • Foundational understanding of core project management practices
  • Experience with information management systems
