What You Will Be Doing

As our IT Systems Administrator, you'll be the backbone of our IT operations, ensuring our systems run smoothly and securely. You will:

  • Team Leadership and Management:

    • Build and manage a growing team that will execute the day-to-day operations of IT (service desk, onboarding, offboarding, hardware purchase orders, data backups, etc.).

    • Ensure operational excellence and consistency across IT & IS.

  • IT Operations:

    • Execute day-to-day IT operations (such as help desk duties) as required.

  • Salesforce Administration:

    • Manage user accounts, profiles, and permissions.

    • Maintain data integrity and perform regular data backups.

    • Troubleshoot Salesforce issues and provide support to users.

    • Implement and manage integrations with other systems.

  • Employee Onboarding/Offboarding:

    • Provision and configure laptops and mobile devices for new employees.

    • Set up user accounts and access to systems and applications.

    • Manage the offboarding process, including revoking access and recovering company assets.

  • Endpoint Management and Security:

    • Install and maintain operating systems and software on employee devices.

    • Implement and manage security tools, including antivirus, firewalls, and endpoint detection and response (EDR).

    • Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.

  • AWS Administration:

    • Manage and monitor our AWS-hosted infrastructure and applications.

    • Ensure the availability, performance, and security of our cloud environment.

    • Implement cost optimization strategies.

  • Vendor Management and Procurement:

    • Work with the executive team to determine the best strategy for vendors to meet all departmental needs while remaining cost-effective.

    • Manage vendor relationships, including implementation, renewals, and licensing of many SaaS products.

    • Perform due diligence on IT vendors and service providers.

    • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships.

    • Maintain an inventory of IT assets and software licenses.

  • Technical Support:

    • Provide timely and effective technical support to employees.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.

    • Develop and maintain IT documentation and knowledge base articles.

  • Security and Compliance:

    • Own, implement, and manage security procedures, including but not limited to SOC2 compliance, e.g., Determining and conducting recurring audit processes.

    • Define and enforce IT policies.

    • Experience managing a compliance program such as HIPAA, SOC2, or PCI DSS.

    • Create and test disaster recovery procedures.

Skills

Tractionites come from a variety of backgrounds, and we are eager to find people that are from non-traditional backgrounds. Typically, we find that people are successful in this role when they have:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Information Technology roles, with 2+ years in a leadership position.

  • Salesforce Expertise: Hands-on experience with Salesforce administration, including user management, security, and data management.

  • Cloud Savvy: Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and experience with AWS services.

  • Security Focus: Strong understanding of IT security best practices and experience with security tools. Security-related certification from accredited organizations (e.g., CompTIA or ICS2).

  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.

  • Endpoint Management: Experience with managing and securing employee devices.

  • Vendor Management: Ability to perform due diligence, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially with external partners. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Organization: Strong organizational ability to keep projects on track and to ensure a strong discipline of documentation exists in the IT organization. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Bonus Points

  • Bonus points if previous experience in scaling up an organization.

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Salesforce Administrator, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA Security+).


Compensation

Our market data is refreshed on an annual basis to reflect the most current market conditions. The starting salary band for this role is $100 - $130 CAD.

Starting salaries will vary within this range based on experience, skill level, and internal equity related to the role. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may include additional components such as equity and benefits.
